Magical Midnight Shakespeare Productions Are Coming To The Globe This Summer

June 29, 2022

I’ve seen different shows with different weird antics; The Tempest performed in the woods, Macbeth performed in a thunderstorm, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed with a drunk actor – yet they still won’t compare to a midnight Shakespeare showing at The Globe.

The Midnight Matinées began in the 2000s in London, and are back again this summer to give more Bard behavior after dark.

There are a few select summer dates at The Globe where the Midnight Matinées run.

The classic tale of power and ambition, Julies Caesar, is scheduled for August 13th; this year they will both be in August.

Shakespeare fans will be in rapture as Much Ado About Nothing will delight audiences on August 19, as the course of true love once again proves irresistibly bumpy.

There are two performances here, and you can find out more about them.

So, we’ve confirmed that it isn’t your ordinary theatre experience— and it’s not just because The Globe’s bar remains open until 1:30am, which makes the Midnight Matinées some of the cheerier plays in the area.

Midnight Matinées are still just £5 for a standing ticket. When the clock strikes midnight, forget bars and nightclubs, because this is the place to be.
